This event is in the framework of the National Tourism Year in the South Central Coastal provinces – Phu Yen 2011.
Participants in the festival include artisans, actors and athletes... from 13 provinces and cities in the region as Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Lam Dong.
The festival comprises three major activities including the Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of Vietnam’s ethnic groups in the Central and Highland provinces (from July 1st – 3rd 2011) with programs such as the Cham Cultural Festival, festivals of Coastal Region, festivals of Highland Region; sport competitions of the National Tourism Year in the South Central Coastal provinces – Phu Yen 2011 (from July 1st – 5th 2011) with volleyball, crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug-of-war, stilt walking; and the Gastronomy Festival (from July 6th – 9th 2011).
The festival is an opportunity to promote tourism on the national scale, introduce specific cultural characteristics of the Central and Highland region to international and domestic visitors. It also helps the provinces and cities in the region to associate in investment to develop infrastructure and create the own tourism brand of the South Central Coastal region. This is also an occasion to step up propaganda for the movement of "All people unite to build cultured life" and the campaign of "All people take physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" to the ethnic groups in Central and Highland region.
