Foreign tourists to Van Mieu–Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) are mainly from China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand, France and Australia, said Director of the centre, Dang Kim Ngoc. Many local people also visited the site during exams and lunar Tet holiday to pray for wishes.
Aiming to preserve valuable heritages, together with projects funded by the state budget, the centre organised restoration to avoid damage such as, upgrading the landscape and repairing walls, brick lines and wooden gates.
Van Mieu–Quoc Tu Giam is the most ancient university in Vietnam with nearly 1,000-years of history and is the place to worship Kong Zi. 82 stone plaques were recently erected as world’s heritage materials and a “Memory of the World” by UNESCO.
