The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has put Vietnam in the list of the top Asian countries with strong tourism performance in the first half of this year. UNWTO said in a statement about global tourism that international tourist arrivals are estimated to have grown by 7% in the first six months.
The most spectacular cave recently found in the country, Thien Duong (Paradise) in the central province of Quang Binh , has opened to public. At 31km, Thien Duong is the longest cave found in Vietnam so far.
The Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups is scheduled to open on September 19 as a project in celebration of Thang Long-Hanoi millennium anniversary.
The second International Puppetry Festival opened at the Hanoi Opera House on September 4 as an activity to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. The festival is drawing the participation of 12 foreign troupes and five from host Vietnam , including the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, the Thang Long Puppetry Theatre and the puppetry troupes from Hai Phong city, Dak Lak province and Ho Chi Minh City.
A festival to honour handicraft villages and streets will be organised in Hanoi from September 16-21.
